Hyderabad News: In a move which is partly beneficial and partly harmful to the society, the central government cancelled licenses of around 4139 NGOs across India. Shockingly 670 of them are from Andhra Pradesh. The Union Home Ministry made this decision after much consideration, under the Foreign Contribution Regulatory Act (FCRA).The main purpose of this solution is to filter commercial non-governmental organizations and distribute purchase college research papers
It was found that these organizations in AP were consuming a total of 1241 crore INR from the foreign funds that the country receives. After the NGOs refused to submit an audit report of their finances, their licenses had to be cancelled. Most of them are affiliated under certain religious groups. As per the FCRA regulations, these organizations will not be able to receive foreign funds for 3 years from now. They are given permission to approach court of law to appeal against the centre’s decision.
The other state along with AP which has maximum number of NGOs is Tamil Nadu. After talking to a senior consultant from FCRA wing of centre, D Nath, it came to light that there are many such institutions which are not following the rules of FCRA for which they had to take this decision of sacking them. Even the NGOs which were set up from 5 to 8 years were under the centre’s blacklisted orgs.
While some opine that it might be helpful in weeding off the commercial NGOs, some fear that the ones who are sincerely working for a good cause might also have to suffer. Many of the NGO representatives aren’t happy with this move by centre and claim that 3 years of ‘no-funds-situation’ might affect them badly.
