Rainfall solves power issues across the state

Srisailam: The power generation finally starts at Srisailam reservoir after a long wait. Even the power cuts which were there a few weeks ago in the metros like Hyderabad are seized now, as there is adequate power generation and supply in the power plant. Thanks to the series of rains that occurred over the past 1 week across the state.

The inflow of waters from various pipelines connected to rivers like Tungabhadra, Alamatti barrage, Narayanpur and Jurala barrages has save the power plant from acute power crisis. The water levels in the Srisailam reservoir went up to 840 ft and the storage capacity increased to 101 tmc. This is indeed good news to the plant as well as the common public which was facing the heat of power failures.

Not only Srisailam power plant but Nagarjuna Sagar project is also generating adequate power after the week-long rainfall. Along with these two, another savior to the power crisis is the Sri Ram Sagar Project in Nizamabad which improved its condition by generating adequate power to Telangana region. Though the situation was saved, more rains are required to compensate because of the loan the state government took from Maharashtra for the sake of power generation.
