Mary Kom wins Bronze Medal in women’s flyweight semi-finals

Olympics News: Mary Kom could successfully win a Bronze Medal in the women’s flyweight semi-finals yesterday in Olympics. She apologized that she couldn’t get a gold medal to the nation. But also was appreciated for her effort as winning a bronze medal in Olympics isn’t a joke. She thanked the people of India for supporting her.

Mary Kom hails from Manipur and her opponent is Great Britain national, Nicola. The hometown support and the huge crowd shouting in her support might have discouraged Mary’s spirits. Both the boxing champions did considerably well in the competition.

The initial scores were 3-1 which eventually became 5-2 in the second round. This made it even more difficult for Mary to make it to the finals. After a few knock outs, Nicola-Mary scores in the final were 11-6. Even though Mary made a strong effort, it was too late in the pre-final round of the competition. But winning a bronze was the moment of pride for the country.
