Vikas Gowda elevating India’s dream for gold medal

Olympics News: Vikas Gowda made his way into finals of men’s discus throw in Olympics 2012. He won after the 65.2 m throw in the competition. He surely promises to give his best shot in the final and leave the rest to time. The qualification mark for the semi final was 65m. Vikas succeeded to touch that 65m mark and even crossed it to make to finals.

Vikas became the 4th Indian male athlete to enter finals in any Olympic events so far. Everyone from India is counting on him and so the pressure is mounting up on Vikas. He stated to the press that he needs both physical and mental rest before the finals. He wished to enter into the field without stress.

Earlier to this, Vikas won Diamond League Series in New York by throwing at a distance of 64.86m. He won a bronze there; but making it to finals is a happy moment for him and to our nation. Though he was born in India, he lives in US from 1989 and got trained there by John Godina. Vikas also won a silver medal at Commonwealth Games in 2010. Vikas will compete against Ehsan Haddadi, Iranian discus thrower in the finals.
