New pipeline in old city to monitor pollution

Hyderabad News: HMWS & SB decided to lay a new pipeline running from Osman sagar to Asif Nagar in the filter bed. This pipeline is supposedly laid to monitor the pollution and check whether any impurities are entering the pipe which is meant for drinking water. Presently an open passage is used to send water to the old city residents.

The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply & Sewerage Board (HMWS & SB) took necessary measures to close this open passage a few months ago by sending a notice to water board. Supporting this move, the Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) also asked Water Board to submit a detailed report regarding the work of closing the passage.

Replying to the order by MA&UD, the water board said that they have ther report all prepared and ready to submit. The cost estimate to lay this new pipeline is close to 100 crore INR.

The action taken by HMWS & SB is after receiving many complaints from old city region that the drinking water they get is very impure. The work will be completed within 6 to 7 months said the official from sewerage board. Also they are waiting for the nod of MA&UD. Once it approves the report sent by Water Board, the work will be started.
