Charminar and Golkonda among the World Heritage sites

We all grew up enjoying the sites like Charminar and Golkonda. They always stood as pride of Hyderabad often dubbed as City of Nawabs. This year, the state government decided to further glorify these structures by filing a nomination; a nomination to declare them as among the World Heritage sites by UNESCO.

Along with Charminar and Golkonda, QutubShahi Tombs will also be included in the WH list if UNESCO accepts the AP state government’s request. The GHMC commissioner MT Krishna Babu and commissioner of Tourism Rajath Kumar were some main personalities in the meeting held on Monday 23 July 2012.

Another joint meeting was held yesterday on 24 July 2012, where in other Tourism officials will also be involved and their opinions will be considered in this regard. The committee expects more suggestions from this meeting and a detailed report will be submitted very soon. GHMC also agreed to develop the surroundings of these structures which will make them appealing enough for UNESCO to give its nod as World Heritage Sites.
