World cheapest tablet computer is going to unwrap on 5th of October by kapil sibal, minister for communication, IT, and HRD. The Tablet, nicknamed “Aakash” is especially designed for use by students. Government of India is giving subsidy as a part of an ambitious plan to make information and communication technologies an integral part of education.
It will be available at Rs 1,750 for college students even though production cost is Rs 3,000.The tablet will run on Google’s android platform, with Wi-Fi connectivity for internet access and cloud storage. It will have 256MB OF ram, a 2GB SD memory card, 32GB expandable memory slot and two USB ports.
Suneet Singh Tuli the chief executive and founder of Datawind,a Uk based company said that "we wanted to show the world that when china can break price points, India can do it better”. He also said that it will cost as much as "a vegetarian meal for two at a five star hotel in Delhi" without disclosing the retail price.
