AamirKhan, Satyameva Jayathe, Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Ashok Gehlot, feoticide
Two days after the first episode of Satyameva Jayathe was beingaired on Star Plus and Doordarshan channels, the show gets response from notonly the audience but also the Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Ashok Gehlot. On 9th Wednesday 2012, Gehlot promised that rapid action willbe taken against the female foeticide.
Talking to the media he said “I am moved by Aamir's programme and his gesture. I will definitely take up the issue to fast track court and speak to the chief justice of Rajasthan to find away". This is a real good news to our society and a wake up call to those who are still voluntarily involved in killing of female unborn babies.
Satyameva Jayathe highlighted experiences of rural, urban and even the sophisticated families urging the women to abort babies after they are being reported as female. Today there are many section sin our society which are striving hard to find a girl for the purpose of matrimonial matches for the boys in their families. The sting operation conducted by two Jaipur journalists 7 years ago was telecasted in the show along with the experiences of the women victims. This operation brought the fact to light that a total of 140 doctors were involved in conducting illegal sex determination tests and feoticide.
We salute Aamir Khan for his effort and the steps taken by the Chief Minister of Rajasthan. Considering the girl child killings in the recent past in Delhi another states, it is the need of the hour that other states’ governments also respond positively to this move taken by Ashok Gehlot and bring about the most wanted “change in our society and its mindset”.
