Possibility of Massive Earth Quack in Northern part of India: Walter D. Mooney

A famous seismologist Walter D. Mooney warned the India that there is possibility of Danger Earth Quake of magnitude 8 and above in the next 30 to 50 years.

He came to India to participate in the golden jubilee celebrations of the NGRI (National Geophysical Research Institute) on Tuesday. He said India needs to be prepared for the large earth quake.

He said it is true that as of now there are no positive developments in identifying the exact time, place and magnitude of the earth but we can make use of seismometers which will detect the earthquake and send the radio signals. These radio signals are much faster than the sound signals.

As per the records available regarding the earth quakes in India, northern part of the country was effected number of times by earthquakes. So it is the peek time for India to start investing in research and development to foster the technology and control the damage.

He said, “Installing Seismometers in Ganga Basin would be the good option to better use of the technology. Japan and other countries are using this technology and also we can go for earthquake safe buildings to reduce the Human loss.”
