Wi-Fi Internet soon a reality in Indians trains
Wi-Fi Internet in Indians trains, Wi-fi Connectivity, Satellite, ISRO Clearance, Internet service
Good news to the travelers of trains. The IRCTC get nod from ISRO to use satellite to introduce internet access in trains. So no more worries about the data card and net speed as the IRCTC also promises to provide high speed wi-fi connectivity. This project was proposed by IRCTC two years ago but wasn’t approved by ISRO.
According to a senior Railway Ministry official, this will be turning point in the Indian Railways as the internet can be accessed even in moving trains. He also stated that ISRO’s clearance is must for the usage of satellite and internet. Now that ISRO clearance is issued, the project will be set out soon.
The ISRO granted IRCTC to use frequency from KU band for the internet purpose. The project is handled by a Mumbai-based company. The first train to be introduced with this facility is Howrah Rajdhani on a trial basis for now. The IRCTC sanctioned Rs. 6.3 crore to this company for the execution of this project.
Passengers won’t be charged for the present installation of internet as it is just a trial project. If the internet service provided is good and the w-fi connectivity works out, the main project will commence sooner later. The passengers will receive a password on their mobile phones after dialing to TTE and it should be used to access the internet.
