Procrastination on SIC appointments

Compare to last year the awareness on RTI has increased in many fold. People especially youth are taking time to fight against the corrupt officials through this constitutionally established body. Recent developments in unearthing the corruption in Indian politics were the results of the RTI and the efforts of whistle blowers.

But in our state the administration in RTI department is working very badly as government is not finding time to fill the top vacancies i.e. state information commission officers.

These posts have been lying vacant since November 2010.but the government acting very indifferently towards this department. Retired IAS and IPS officers and Non Bureaucrats have applied for the post and they have been waiting since 11 months.

The chief information commissioner, Jannat Husian said “at present the there are 9000 RTI applications at various levels to be answered. There is an urgent requirement of three SIC officers in various departments.”

But the prevailing political turmoil in the state once again postponed the appointment of SIC officers.
