SRK Ra.One fails to beat Salman Bodyguard
Shah Rukh Khan's Ra.One failed to light up the charts on its release on Diwali, but analysts said brighter days were ahead for Bollywood's most expensive movie.
Despite a huge promotion by Khan, the movie managed to collect 18.5 crore on the box-office on Wednesday, 3 crore less than what Bodyguard managed on Day One.
Ra.One was released simultaneously in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu versions in over 3,100 theatres, while Bodyguard was released only in Hindi across 2,750 theatres two months ago. Ra.One earned about 15-16 crore from the Hindi version, while the Tamil and Telugu versions added another 2 crore-2.5 crore, trade analyst said.
Highest single-day collection by a Bollywood film so far has been Bodyguard's 21.5 crore. That beat 14.5-crore opening of Salman Khan-starrer Dabangg (a year ago), and the 13.5 crore collected by Aamir Khan's 3 Idiots in 2009.
