SRISAILAM DAM

Dam  is situated on the bank of river Krishna 232 km south of Hyderabad and the 512 meter long Srisailam dam is constructed across river Krishna. This dam is situated in a deep gorge in the Nallamalai hill range. The dam is surrounded by natural beauty. It is 300m above the sea level and is 512m long and is one of the twelve largest hydroelectric projects in the country. It has 12 radial crest gates.

The construction of this dam has paved the way for providing irrigation water to about 80,000 hectares in kurnool and Cuddapah districts in the chronically drought-prone Rayalaseema region from Srisailam project. One requires special permission to go on to the main dam.


On the southern bank of the Krishna river, in the Nallamalai forest. Bhramarambika Mallikarjunaswamy Temple on the hill range of Nallamalai Forest,  one can see Sakshi Ganapathi temple first while going to the temple.This temple is one of the Jyothirliga's and Shakthi peetas
