Nehru Zoological Park:

Nehru Zoological Park is located near Mir Alam Tank in Hyderabad of Andhra Pradesh which occupies a geographical area of 380 acres. It was established on 26th October 1959 but was active for general public from 6th October 1963. The park is maintained by Forest department of Andhra Pradesh government.

The zoo accommodates 100 species of birds, reptiles and animals like Indian Rhino, Asiatic lion, gaur, orangutan, crocodile and many more. The nocturnal animals are also preserved with extreme attention and care is taken about the safety of the visitors visiting during the night. Some such animals are fruit bats, slender loris, slow loris, civets, leopard cats, hedgehogs and fishing owls.

Under the authority of government of Andhra Pradesh, the zoo provides adventure sports like boat rides on ferry boats and speed boats to the visitors. The landscape of the zoo gives a feeling of naturally formed forest to the animal habitat, thereby improving the scope of multiplicity of species living in the zoo. As a result of this, the rare species bred in this zoo have been rehabilitated into deer parks and sanctuaries across the country to save them from extinction.
