Botanical Gardens:
Botanical Gardens of Hyderabad, also called Kotla Vijayabhaskar Reddy Botanical Gardens was developed by Forest department of Andhra Pradesh near HITEC City in Madhapur. It is spread over 120 acres and has 19 sectors. The purpose of building this vast botanical garden is to provide education to the people about greenery and to conserve the species of plants prone to extinction. The development of germ plasm is given more attention to create hybrid plant seeds.
The sections of garden open to public consist of variety of plants and trees like medicinal plants, timber trees, fruit trees, ornamental plants, aquatic plants, bamboos. Apart from these large water bodies, rolling meadows, natural forests, rich grasslands and exquisite rock formations can also be seen adding value to the gardens. Among these, the bamboo and palm sectors are the main attraction to this place.
Botanical Gardens is the best recreation place away from the busy and polluted city life. It should be visited mainly during holidays; as it may take almost a day to enjoy the picturesque views and plantations of the Gardens.
