Mir Alam Tank:

The Mir Alam Tank was laid with foundation on 20th July 1804 by Mir Alam Bahadur, the Prime Minister of Hyderabad during 1804-1808 term of rule. The construction work continued for 2 years till it was active from 8th June 1806. This tank was built from the share of treasure won from Srirangapatnam. It is adjacent to Hyderabad-Bangaluru national highway. It provided drinking water to the people for almost 125 years according to the history books.

It lies adjacent to Nehru Zoological Park in Hyderabad and served drinking water till Himayat Sagar and Osman Sagar were built. Now the condition of water isn’t fit for humans as well as animals for consumption purpose. The government hasn’t taken much steps to cleanse the waters of this tank, and it lies there as an antique piece of nature.

AP Tourism provides boating facilities on the lake for which one has to enter the Nehru Zoological premises. You can choose from mechanized boats, steering boats and speedy boats.
