YADAGIRIGUTTA

Yadagirigutta is the famous place in Andhra Pradesh, dedicated to Lord Narasimha and His consort Lakshmi. Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple is located at a height of 300 feet on a hillock in Nalgonda district of Andhra Pradesh. It is about 65 kms from Hyderabad, the capital city of Andhra Pradesh. Nearest airport is Hyderabad and railhead is Raigir station. It is well connected to all parts of the state through roadways.

The place of Yadagirigutta has mythological significance. It was named after a hermit called Yadavarishi, who meditated on this place to be blessed by Lord Narasimha. Seeing the determination of Yadavarishi, Lord Narashimha was pleased and materialized in five different forms namely: Jwala, Yogananda, Lakshminarasimha, Gandabherunda and Ugra. The first form of the Lord was so fiery that Yadavarishi could not endure. He requested the Lord to be peaceful and appear in Yoganarasimha. As the Lord appeared in Yoganarasimha form, again he requested the Lord to appear with goddess Lakshmi on his lap. It was said that these deities was so fiery that Yadavarishi worshiped them inside the cave. The five forms of Lord are also known as Panchanarasimha and the place is known as Panchanarasimha Kshetram. The place is named Yadagiri after Yadavarishi. It is a belief in this area that a bath in the holy water of Vishnu Pushkarini cures all incurable diseases. Haritha Hotel Tel.0868-237217.
